I was a chef for nearly 10 years and eventually opened my own food business during the pandemic. But between the burnout and the grind of entrepreneurship, I knew I wanted more control over my life and income. That’s when I started diving into sales—reading books, watching content—and eventually found my way to tech sales. I binge-watched testimonial after testimonial from Higher Levels, and at first I thought, “There’s no way this is real.” But the more I watched, the more it clicked. Fail fast. If you’re on the fence or worried about getting it perfect, stop. You’ll learn way more by doing than by overpreparing. I tried to make my first interview the interview—and I wasn’t ready. But that failure made me bulletproof for the next round. You don’t need to wait until the program is “done” to start applying. Just start. Get in reps. Take feedback. Learn from your losses. And if you’re coming from a totally different industry like I did, don’t sell yourself short.
