Recruiters told me that other courses like Course Careers are very cookie cutter... people end up saying the exact same thing over and over. Higher Levels was the opposite of that & helped me stand out and put myself in whole different league.

What got you interested in Tech Sales?

I started my career as a server before graduating college and then landed a job as a data analyst for a hotel company. This job was entirely remote and involved only crunching numbers, which I soon realized did not suit my personality. I thrive on interacting with people, so I decided to look for a job that required communication and offered good pay. That's when I discovered the sales industry, where the earning potential is significant. I ventured into door-to-door sales on a 100% commission basis, working long hours. However, I knew that one could only last so long in such a demanding role. Tech sales had always been at the back of my mind, so when I felt burnt out with door-to-door sales, I started exploring tech sales more seriously. I did a lot of research before committing to tech sales, trying to understand the different roles like SDRs, BDRs, AEs, sales engineers, etc. I watched many YouTubers and came across Eric's content, which I found to be very raw and real about the tech industry. It wasn't just about the positives of tech sales; it was about the hard work and grind required to succeed. This realism is what made me go with Higher Levels, especially after watching an interview where a person got more value from this course than others.

What part of the course was most valuable to you?

The weekly live calls and mentorship in the bootcamp were a big selling point for me. Getting guidance from experienced professionals in the industry seemed invaluable. During one of my interviews, a recruiter also asked about the Tech Sales Ascension bootcamp. I explained how it included weekly mock calls, interview preparation, resume writing tips, and how it was tailored to individual needs, which really impressed her. She mentioned that typically candidates end up taking very generic bootcamps, like CourseCareers, and they all end up saying the exact same thing over and over. But Higher Levels was the opposite of that and really helped me stand out and put myself in a different league.

Any advice to your younger self or others out there considering Tech Sales?

Invest in yourself. The bootcamp taught me how to demonstrate my value in interviews and ask the right questions to ensure the company was a good long-term fit for me. It saved me a ton of time, energy and money in the long run and helped me avoid making critical mistakes when approaching my top companies of choice. Apart from that, my top tips for others would be to build a strong LinkedIn profile and get involved in the community. This helps in understanding the industry and finding opportunities.
